Kiwanis Club of Staten Island Antique Appraisal Show

It's nice to be back after taking this past month off to enjoy the summer. I kicked over the second half of my reign making an appearance with the Staten Island Kiwanis Club, a partnership I made as Miss Staten Island. They held their annual Antiques Appraisal Show at the All Saints Episcopal Church. For a $5 donation, four professional and certified appraisers assessed the worth of sport memorabilia, jewelry, paintings, newspaper articles, furniture, and heirlooms. All proceeds benefit the charitable work of the Kiwanis Club of Staten Island, including the club's support of Kamp Kiwanis, which serves disabled youth in New York.

My mom and I brought some items to be appraised just to see if they were worth anything, including spoons from the 1939 World's Fair, baseball cards, and jewelry that are family heirlooms. I also had the opportunity to talk to some of the members about my platform and how I have been promoting it throughout the state. They were so impressed that they invited me to come speak to the club at a meeting in September. It is amazing how one appearance usually leads to another great opportunity.
